Sign-up in a flash with Session's new onboarding
August 11, 2024 / Alex Linton
Signing up with Session has always been fast—and now it’s simpler and smoother than ever. Session’s latest release contains completely overhauled onboarding, including new flows for signing up, restoring your account, and linking a new device.
Onboarding is a crucial first step when introducing friends and family to Session. High-quality onboarding ensures anyone can quickly understand the app's features, feel comfortable navigating the interface, and effortlessly begin communicating with privacy and security.
Changing terminology
An app as unique as Session requires unique terminology—if you’ve been using the app for a while, you’d be familiar with terms like ‘Session ID’. Some of this terminology is changing with the onboarding update to make it easier for new people to understand how everything works.
Account ID will replace Session ID
Recovery Password replaces Recovery Phrase
This terminology will be changing throughout the entire Session app, and our guides and, help items will be updated over the coming weeks. If you see a loose “Session ID” or “Recovery Phrase” hanging around, be sure to let the team know so it can be updated!
Give it a go
If you’ve experienced failure to launch when bringing some of your friends onto Session in the past—now is the perfect time to give it another try. If you have been waiting for a sign to start shipping Session to your mates, this is it.
The team has worked hard to create a seamless and enjoyable experience that makes the transition to Session easy and inviting.
